Home Cinema Speakers
Buying Home Cinema Speakers
When buying home cinema speakers there are several things you will need to consider. First you need to decide where you are going to use your home cinema speaker system, large room, dedicated home cinema room, or your office? Second are you an audio nut and demand the best, or do you simply want really good sound that you can enjoy your movies with. Your speaker system will most likely last you for years so put some thought into your buying decision. If you have a large room you will want something that is powerful enough fill it. Some home cinema speaker systems with small satellite speakers are cute and can be hidden away but they can only move so much air, so if you are into a bit of volume they can sound a little stressed and dull. This is not to say these systems aren't any good, in a small room or even a larger room at lower volume they can be superb. Your speaker system needs to divide sound frequency into three distinct parts, high range, mid range, and bass to get clean quality sound, so you need multiple drivers for each part to achieve this. For a proper home cinema setup you need at least 5 speakers and a sub woofer,(four high frequency speakers, a mid range and sub woofer). In a large room if you want to get the sound of a train coming through your living room or being in the audience of a stones concert then you will need floor standing speakers and or a sub woofer, small bookshelf speakers just wont cut it.
Buying tips:
Dont rush, and dont be pressured by sales people. Visit several stores and try out the home cinema speakers that suit your budget. Take your own music or movies along that you know and enjoy. Remember that the room at the store is not like your room at home so if you are really keen on a specific speaker set try to get a trial run in your room.
Stick with proven speaker brands. Speaker design is a specialised business requiring hours of acoustic research and development. The best speakers come from speaker manufacturers who most often have been in business for 20 years or more. These guys know what they are doing, like good wine It takes time to develop really good speakers.
Before you buy, check out reviews and test reports either online or in magazines, some of the best reviews and testimonials you can get are from those who have already purchased a particular set of home cinema speakers.
